About :

Department of Archeology; The Department of Classical Archeology, Prehistory, Protohistory and Pre-Asian Archeology, Medieval Archeology and Underwater Archeology. 3 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 4 Dr. Lecturer Member, 3 Ress. Ass Within the archeology department, there are 565 undergraduate students, 120 graduate students and 26 PhD students. There are 5 Ancient Cities, 2 Sanctuary Excavations and 3 Surveys determined by the Council of Ministers.

The students of the Department of Archeology, who have the title of archaeologist upon graduation, are experts in the field who can take part in the protection, classification and detection of all kinds of cultural assets.



Mission :

To educate archaeologists who closely follow scientific excavations and researches in the field of archeology and adapt the experience and skills gained to the field. Remove the cultural richness of Turkey to open within the framework of scientific methods, to share and introduce the findings gained by scientists. To ensure the protection of uncovered cultural assets with scientific methods and to include them in the economy. In addition to his education and training, he aims to educate individuals who are equipped through archaeological field studies, who can transfer their knowledge and skills to their environment, free, original, contemporary, who can express themselves, who are working, researching, thinking and honest.

Definition of Program :

Prehistory, Protohistory, Classical Archeology and Underwater Archeology are the main areas of study.



Admission and Registration Requirements :

To get the right to settle as a result of placement by getting enough points from the transition exam to higher education organized by OSYM.



Graduation Requirements :

As a result of the 8-semester instruction determined by the department, at least a total of 240 ECTS credits must be completed successfully.



Employment Oppurtunities :

Graduated students, Academicians in Higher Education Institutions, Archeologists in museums and historical sites under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Archaeologists in Special Museums, Archaeologists in Cultural Heritage Conservation Boards, Archaeologists in KUDEP, Archaeologists in Restoration and Conservation Laboratories They are employed in various public and private sectors.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture "Archaeological excavations will continue throughout the year" project supported by the Selcuk University Archeology Department Excavations Knidos Excavations and Anemurium Ancient City excavations within the scope of the project is employed by experts in the field of archeology.
