Purpose: The objectives of the Department of Agricultural Economics are to teach all the students of the college the fundamental concepts and principles of economics to make the best use of resources allocated to agriculture and agro industries, educate the students in the Department to be able to perform the duties expected of them and conduct research activities in both macro and micro level and develop solutions to the problems in the field

Vision: Our vision is to a strong undergraduate program which based on agribusiness and policy in the light of scientific standards and objectivity while maintaining training and Resource and Development activities. It is aimed to be an undergraduate program that makes studies on current subjects which the target group is encountered and produce a solution through constant and regular contacts with our stakeholders.

Mission: To give a modern and quality education in the field of agricultural economics by using the principles of the science of economics while conducting quality research. Furthermore organizing scientific activities that provides solutions for resort development of the agricultural sector is our mission while contributing to universal knowledge.

Program Description: Department of Agricultural Economics was founded in 1982. Currently, the department delivers courses to the students of the Department of Agricultural Economics to other programs and departments of the Faculty of Agriculture and to some colleges of Selcuk University. The education of Agricultural Economics carried out in the Departments within the Colleges of Agriculture. There are 8 semesters for the undergraduate education in the Department of Agricultural Economics. The students take technical courses such as Animal Husbandry, Field Crops, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Landscape Architecture, and Soil Science in addition to economics courses such as Farm Planning and Management, Project Planning and Evaluation, Agribusiness Financing, Agribusiness Marketing, Agribusiness Management, Farm Accounting, Agricultural Policy, Econometrics, Agricultural Laws, Cooperatives, Rural Sociology, Agricultural Extension and Communications etc. On the other hand, the students have to prepare a graduation thesis in the last year. Students who graduate from the Department are granted the title of ?Agricultural Engineer?. Master is organized within the Graduate School of Natural Sciences. Research activities contributing the National and Regional Agricultural Development and Science are carried out at the department tematically, and in a planned fashion. Numerous research studies are carried out both at national and international level. There are mainly financed by the Selcuk University Research Fund, The Scientific and Technical Council of Turkey, Ministry of Agriculture and other institutions.

Admissions Requirements: In accordance with relevant regulations of the Higher Education Council, to be successful in examinations conducted by SSPC.

Recognition of Prior Learning: Previous studies on the faculty or vocational courses taken in high school, exemptions from these der the case of identical content and credit "Regulation on Institutions of Higher Education between the Associate Degree and Transfer Basis of Undergraduate Level" is made according to the provisions.

Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate, the students are required to pass courses worth 142 credits and complete 45 work days of internship. Furthermore, the minimum CGPA requirement for graduation is set at 2.00.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: Final grades contains %40 of mid-term and %60 of final test.

Employment Opportunities: Students who graduate from Department of Agricultural Economics, takes Agricultural Engineer title. Students are employed mainly at Republic of Turkey Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, The Central Union of the Agricultural Credit Cooperatives of Turkey, Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade, The National Productivity Centre, Export Development Center, Chambers of Commerce, Exchanges, Chambers of Industry Exporters Association, Insurance Companies, Ziraat Bank. And recent years our graduates especially employed in Turkish and international seed and pharmaceutical companies.
