Purpose: Postgraduate education at Landscape Architecture Department started in the academic year of 2000-2001. First graduates of the Landscape Architecture Department of Institute of Physical Sciences received their degrees in 2002. 17 postgraduate students graduated from Landscape Architecture Department until 2010. 14 postgraduate students continue their education in the academic year 2010-2011. The scope of the education program is to train master landscape architects that preserve social and historical environment and has a professional ethics responsibility beside the values such as qualified, sful, entrepreneur, social justice, economic welfare and efficient use of the resources It aimed to have s to analyze the problem on planning and design, to be sensible to develop and to preserve landscape quality, at the end of the education.

Vision: The vision of the Landscape Architecture Department that develop day by day in the light of science and technology, provide an education and training suitable for nation requirements, contribute science and technology by scientific research and application project at international and national level, put trained master landscape architects at the disposal of society, is to be recognized internationally and nationally.

Mission: Landscape architecture is a discipline which canalizes on all scales, combines its deep rooted history with contemporary developments, and is able to compete on both national and international levels, a leader on education, research and practice. Landscape architecture department organizers and practices an education program a comprehensive and ever-growing program for the students who wants to have a graduate education. It places emphasis on graduate education which is its significant shareholder. With this aim it undertakes to contribute science and technology, produce projects and solutions on its practices area, share these solutions and knowledge with society and consider the scientific excellence on international level. The department gives some service lessons to the other contiguous disciplines (Fine Arts Faculty, Agriculture Faculty) and it'll continue to support next years. The instructors of the department are participate in management an utive bodies and contributing the scientific commissions. To accomplish these missions above, landscape architecture department always endeavor to improve its staff, substructure and education.

Program Description: According to American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Landscape Architecture is stewardship of the land and the art of planning, design and management of natural and man-made elements. A landscape architect combines expertise in design and the arts with knowledge of natural, social and behavioral sciences to places where people live, work and play. Landscape architecture that analyses nature, planning and design concepts within a tematic structure, busies with land design, planning and management by pairing up the art, science, engineering, and technology. Landscape Architecture discipline is based on planning natural resource use considering criteria about environment and requirements of human life. Landscape Architecture discipline that play an significant role on studies such as nature preserve, biological restoration, urban and rural land use planning, put forward also design and landscaping studies for human's near environment space organization. Landscape architecture interacts with the other planning and design professions due to field of study that involve broad subject and scale. This interaction is common production process integrate procurement. Especially landscape architecture on those common production processes is a bridge combines social science and natural science, art and science, society and nature issues. Planning and designing of areas and places such as national parks and nature preserve areas, coastal areas, wetlands, urban green areas, tourism lands, arboretums, exhibition areas, campuses, botanic gardens and zoos build up for society, are significant study fields of landscape architecture. Landscape architectures choose the area for like parks, tourism areas, campuses, residential areas, commercial centers, public buildings.

Recognition of Prior Learning: : In the scope of the Turkish Higher Education councils, the endorsement of previous formal learning and vertical, internal transfers and the transitions at the university is being realized in the scope of ?Regulation of transition between the programs at the associate and undergraduate degrees, double major, and transferring between sub-branch and the institutions at higher education councils?. In Turkey, apart from the formal education, the endorsement process of the ?informal and non-formal? education which is based on certificate and experience is on the starting stage. For this reason at Selçuk University, the endorsement of previous education of all the departments it is not started exactly. But for the lessons such as English and German, an exemption exam is organized. The students, who think that they have the enough qualifications, have the chance to have these exams. The students, who have the exam and have been successful, will quiz out of the related lessons.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: The assessment and evaluation for each class has been defined in detail in the class education plan. Mark tem is in accordance with relative evaluation tem. Exams are evaluated with regard to Selcuk University Educational Regulation and Agriculture Faculty Educational Regulation. Final grade of a course is calculated by adding %40 of the midterm exam and if there are, some marks which are get from other educational activities to the % 60 of the final exam mark. The midterm exam marks and the other marks that is got from other activities by the students who hasn't been successful at applied courses are not received consideration. These students are considered unsuccessful before having the final exam and their marks are evaluated as FF (absentee).

Employment Opportunities: The organizations which are based on a professional and interdisciplinary organizations in the scope of environmental planning and design, environmental impact assessment, landscape management (planning, maintenance and repair), cultivation and marketing of ornamental plants generates the working areas in private sector. State Planning Organization , Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Forestry, Directorate General For Highways, State Hydraulic Works, municipalities constitutes the working areas in public sector.

Jump to Top Degree Programs: Candidates who have successfully graduated, can study on their area or related areas in graduate programs on condition of receiving an eligible score from the Selection Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) required by the graduate program applied and having a satisfactory grammar knowledge of English.
