Purpose: Educating self-confident, preferred food engineers who are well equipped with sufficient knowledge about basic science and engineering and food science and technology, use him/her knowledge and abilities efficiently in some areas such as food production, product development, provide quality and food control, focused in research-development, coordinate with teamwork, respectful to occupational ethics, sensitive to problems of this age, conscious of lifetime learning.

Vision: Educate food engineers who contribute to enhancing of education, contribute to developments in scientific, technological and economic area of this age, sensitive to humanity problems, conscious of vocational responsibilities with our sharers related with Food Engineering education.

Mission: Contribute to development of food science, food technology and food security with its innovator, creative, entrepreneur educated food engineers.

Program Description: Selcuk University, Department of Food Engineering is an interdisciplinary department which carry out modern science and engineering concepts in production, processing, packing and delivering of food. Department of Food Engineering has three as undergraduate, MSc and PhD. Our programs are d consistently for supply requirements of progressing and growing food industry.

Admissions Requirements: Acceptance the matriculation, exams and assessment done in regard to High Education Lawand High Education Board Rules and regulations which is basis from High Education Lawand done by Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM).

Recognition of Prior Learning: In case the credits and contents of lessons are same, exemption is done in accordance with the provisions of "Regulations Concerning Horizontal Transfer to Undergraduate and Graduate-Level Between Higher Education Institutions ".

Graduation Requirements: To graduate from the program one needs to complete successfully all the lessons with 247 AKTS (140 credits) and obtain to present job-training, seminar, research project successfully.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: The success of a student over a course is determined and represented as a letter grade by the instructor after the final and make-up exams as follows : the letter grade equivalent to a total of 40% of mid-term exams and 60% of final/make-up exams. It is required to get a total of points in exams equal to at least "CC" for a student to gain a successful degree in the course. The instructor can lower the point range. The students which have the same point cant take different letter grade. A letter grade given to a student cant be less than the other students which have lower point.

Employment Opportunities: Our graduates can find job easily and advance in the career in plenty of factory and state sector because of the advantages supplied by Food Engineering. The graduates of Food Engineering can register Chamber of Food Engineers and be employed by the following sectors with authority of Food Engineer. Graduates can work in state sector such as Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Turkish Standards Institution, Ministry of Health, Ministry for EU Affairs, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, city halls and private institutions such as research-development units of food industry, production area, department of quality assurance and marketing, and work as Project and operating engineer, investment manager, administrator in importation and exportation area. Also, at present, in Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, supervision, quality control an technical research are carried out in different areas where food engineers participate in. In this sense employment of food engineers became important. In addition to this food engineering education tends towards to process engineering. So, the demands for food engineers are raising day by day for the purpose of solve the problems in food industry. In this whole process the need for food engineers is increasing to get her with development of the food industry.

Jump to Top Degree Programs: The students are accepted for post graduate program with written science examination. The numbers of students which will be taken for post graduate program and required specifications of candidates are d before each semester ning. The application requirements, deadline, place and date of exam are informed on this announcement. Candidates who have successfully graduated, can study on their area or related areas in graduate programs on condition of receiving an eligible score from the Selection Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) required by the graduate program applied and if the diploma was taken from foreign, its equivalence has to be confirmed by Council of High Education (YÖK). Candidates have to appeal to provincial directorate of institution with their certificate of ALES, diploma of license, final grades of lessons taken during license, approved document reflecting graduation average and other documents about registry until deadline notified on announcement. The registration procedures are regulated and carried out by provincial directorate of institution. Candidates are subjected to test by jury determined by institution. The note of written science examination is given in terms of full marks of 100. The note of candidate is total of fifty percent of ALES score, thirty percent of graduation average and twenty percent of written exam score. This note has to be 60 at least to rank among. The rules established by institution go for foreign national students.
