Purpose: The Department consists of two main scientific branchs namely Entomology and Phytopathology. Identification, damage symptoms, occurence in the country, biology, ecology and control methods of crop insect pests, plant parasitic mites and nematodes are taught to the students in scope of Entomology. On the other hand, plant disease pathogens same as fungus, bacteria and viruses are taught to them. At the same time a lot of research are made on these topics. Theoretical and practical knowledge about control methods of plant pests and pathogens, side effects of pesticides to human health and environment are given.

Vision: Recognized at the international level there and do research in academic activities with modern and advanced facilities in the field of Plant protection, educate persons who are reliable, decent, successful in field of education and research, keep up scientific research, sensitive to the socio-cultural needs of the age required, well accepted by partners decent, reasonable and judicious.

Mission: Training university students at post-graduate and graduate-level in appropriate and adequate education in Plant Protection in our country, maintain and advance education and research activities in Plant Protection, contribute to raising qualified plant doctors benefit from science and technology saving in the light of the universal values, educate perfect trainers and researchers in postgraduated education and research period, provide information to our students for enhanced competitive capacity to hundreds of graduate students in our department, share and spread scientific knowledge and skills with demandant.

Program Language: Turkish

Program Description: The Department consist of two main branchs, namely Entomology and Phytopathology. Modern facilities of the Department are equipped for researchers on bacteriology, mycology, herbology, entomology and acarology. On the other hand biological and bioecological studies are held on controlling of diseases, pests and weeds of cultivated plants. 1/3 of the undergraduate lessons are made applied.

Admissions Requirements: Determined by the university.

Recognition of Prior Learning: Lessons which are previously taken at another higher education institution and suitable lesson content with Plant Protection Department and are approved by faculty board, students may be exempted from these lessons.

Graduation Requirements: Students must complete successfully the program are available in the program 240 AKTS pass all of the required and elective courses, and 4:00 to obtain a cumulative grade point average (cgpa) of at least 2.0 is required.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: It is given in the introduction and application information of related courses.

Employment Opportunities: There are a lot of opportunities in public and private organizations: Ministry of Agriculture, Agriculture Province Directorate, Plant protection Department, Quarantine Organization, Agricultural research Institute, Plant Protection research station, Metropolitan Municipalities, Organizations providing environmental advice, academician in university.
