Purpose: The goal of the program is to meet the needs of qualified intermediate staff of Agriculture sector. Program aims to teach staff who has applicative knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge.

Vision: Is to be leader in the region through educating technical staff who can detect and can interpret the surrounding change and development, has universal and ethic values, integrated with theory, application, technology entrepreneur, researcher and socially responsible.

Mission: Is to train graduates ready to contribute to the agricultural sector, and equipped with the basic knowledge, skills and research techniques.

Program Language: Turkish

Program Description: Hortıculture Programme was ed under the name of S. U. Silifke-Taşucu Vocational School Technical Programs Section and began to receive students in 1995 as regular teaching and in 2004 for as secondary education.

Admissions Requirements: Students come through Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS) or through direct pass and horizontal transfer, may be exempted from courses which were taken and been suuccessful previously by the decision of the Board of Directors

Recognition of Prior Learning: Students enrolled in Horticulture may be exempt from some courses within certain regulations. Provided that the content and credit of the courses taken from another institution are in conformity with the content of the course in this program, the student may be exempted from that course.

Graduation Requirements: A student is necessary to take classes and have achieved (Total 120 credits), applications, 30-day mandatory summer internship and similar studies with successful completion and graduation grade point average must be of at least 2.0 in order to graduate the scheduled graduation.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: Program Evaluation criterias are organized in the theoretical lectures and practical work as a main structure. For each course at least one midterm and one final exam is done for each semester. Instructor can make teaching activities like course quizzes, projects, field work, etc., according to the state during the semester. Instructor is free to evaluate the success according to midterm exams, final exams, quizzes, projects, etc. Each instructor will announce the criteria to evaluate the success at the ning of the period. Students success for each course is determined by the instructor as a letter grade by the total of 40 % of midterm exam and 60 % of final exam. A student must take at least CC lettre grade to be successful. Instructor can decide a lower point than the point of grade below but can not change the letter of grade lower than the table below as a successful point of grade. Students with same point can not be given different letter of grade. A students letter of grade can not be lower than a student with a lower point. Letter of grades and their values are shown below: 90-100 AA 4.00 85-89 BA 3.50 75-84 BB 3.00 70-74 CB 2.50 60-69 CC 2.00 55-59 DC 1.50 50-54 DD 1.00 40-49 FD 0.50 0-39 FF 0.00 - F 0.00 AA, BA, BB, CB, CC:Successful, DC, DD: If students weighted grade point average is at 2.00 or above successful if not unsuccessful. FD,FF: unsuccessful, F: has no right to enter the exams because of absenteeism or being unsuccessful. G: Passes, successful in non credit courses, K: Fails, unsuccessful in non credit courses. M: Exempt the note they take from the program they study and be successful before in the orientation of the students who are acepted from a higher education program through external and undergraduate transfer or have re-recording right through central placement while studying in a higher education program

Employment Opportunities: Graduates of the program is the title of Technician of Agriculture. Students who graduate can work in Agriculture and Rural Affairs Organization in Agricultural Credit Cooperative organization, in the State Hydraulic Works Organization, in Marmarabirlik Trakyabirlik, Cukobirlik as agricultural associations, irrigation associations, Rural Services Organization, in Mushroom facilities, farms, cold storage, packaging houses, canned businesses enterprises such as food, wet and dry agricultural products in business marketing, Soil products Office organization, courts in agricultural expertise, customs clearance companies. In addition, can business three years after working in insurance pesticide dealers pesticides, tools, seeds and so on. Can work as responsible technical staff in oven bakery and other food businesseswithin the European Union harmonization process.

Jump to Top Degree Programs: On condition that the graduates of the program get a sufficient score from the Vertical Transition Exam, they will be able to continue 4-year undergraduate programs determined by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) as part of the relevant legislation of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
