Purpose: The purpose of the Department of Ceramics Design is to educate specialists who possess knowledge and ss to be able to respond to the developments of modern life, who are to innovations about where ceramics can be used, who are equipped with technological knowledge for ceramics production, who are acquainted with and can operate the equipment used in the field, who prioritize design as the most important element of production and who adopt innovative and productive approaches as a principle.

Vision: To educate designers, who will investigate our traditional values and try to protect them using contemporary approaches, to educate people who will design and produce objects from an artistic point of view, who will be able to adapt to current conditions in the field, who can critically evaluate knowledge and ss they acquire, and who will be able to identify their own learning needs, and manage their learning

Mission: To educate designers, who will identify and analyze artistic, technological, and cultural dimensions of the design problem in the field of industrial ceramics, who will able to do independent research and interpret the data they obtain who can establish links between traditional cultural values and the contemporary culture, and who are capable of making unusual comments by identifying the needs and demads of the industry in the field

Program Description: Theoretical and practical training that helps acquire essential artistic and technological knowledge and ss for contemporary ceramics industry

Admissions Requirements:

Recognition of Prior Learning: The students enrolling the program through undergraduate transfer may be exempted from the courses which they successfully accomplished in a previous undergraduate program they attended by the decision of the Board of Directors.

Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate, the student has to accomplish all the courses in the program. Student achievement is assessed according to Selcuk University Education and Examination Code. For graduation, the student must gain at least 240 ECTS credits, and he/she should successfully complete internships as well.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: Students are given midterm, final and makeup examinations for theoretical and practical courses.

Employment Opportunities: Small and large-scale ceramics businesses, ceramics factories, private ceramics workshops and other institutions involved in the field of ceramics design and production.
