Purpose: The education mission of the Chemical Engineering Program is to educate students to acquire up-to-date knowledge and ss, in order to fulfill the needs and expectations of industry and society and to play a leadership role in their advancement. The Chemical Engineering Department develops educational programs in accordance with the contemporary requirements, advances chemical technology through research and contributes to the application of knowledge and technology for the benefit of society.

Vision: To carry out educational activities that are suitable for the requirements of national and international chemical industries, to educate -minded students who can overcome any vocational problems by proposing clear solutions, to contribute national and international science community by carrying out academic research activities, and to be an internationally recognized and respectable department.

Mission: An engineer is defined as a person who has problem solving and analytical thinking ability, who can produces new ideas using his/her engineering education background and, who is self-confident. To train engineers that is consistent with that definition the mission of the department is to equip the students with up-to-date technical knowledge. The students can solve any problems with their analytical thinking abilities and they are gained the ability to design. They are advised to be entrepreneur, understand the importance of learning, consider the social and economic aspects of Chemical Engineering applications, respect to the environment, and also has ethical awareness.

Program Description: To have enough and current knowledge on scientific and engineering topics which is related with chemical engineering, to use the gained theoretical and practical experience for problem solving. To understand complicated chemical engineering problems, picking necessary modern analysis tool and models to formulize and solve these problems, to reach the ability to apply necessary level computer, engineering software technologies. In the way of solving Chemical Engineering problems, design and set experimental set ups, experimenting, data collection and gaining ss to analyze these data. having knowledge and ss to develop and apply every project in the chemical engineering field, including employees to project work under her/his supervising and planning the professional activity and gaining managing ss To access knowledge using data bases effectively, defining knowledge, extracting and gaining the ss on the way of to present the accessed knowledge and his/her opinions To be able to report the findings, results, and argue of the results of the study, to be able to write technical reports, and develop the s of the presenting these reports effectively. Studying in a team or his/her own, making decisions and taking responsibility, and having an attempt and self-confidence, and to evaluate critically, and to develop different approach and comments To learn the ability of learning, manage and maintain this awareness through the whole life To learn at least one foreign language to communicate with his/her colleagues and follow the oral and written references in the chemical engineering field Having the enough knowledge and awareness on the subjects of Labor Safety, labor health, social security rights, quality control and management, environment and human health To haveawareness of the professional and ethical responsibility, to be honest, and developed awareness of the citizenship and the frame of this awareness to treat appropriate way. To be aware of entrepreneurship, innovation, the bases of the economics, problems, and priorities of the country, and sustainable development

Admissions Requirements: Students are accepted to our department according to the results of LYS exam in central tem.

Recognition of Prior Learning: For students who accepted to our department with horizontal and vertical transfer or with LYS exam, the previous courses that they took before coming our department are evaluated according to the adaptation instructions and the students can exempt from these courses with regard to the departments course plan and curriculum.

Graduation Requirements: To be graduated from the program a student is enrolled in that program have taken and passed all courses and graduation grade point average must be at least 2.00. The students graduation date is the last day of the exam schedule during this semester. However, to date the students, who have not be graduated because of the following reasons: the only course, internships, industry-based training, the final project/thesis and similar reasons, will be graduated when the students are successful in the only courses exam or when they have completed indicated studies. Students who are not graduated from the current academic semester, have to pay the tuition fee of the following semester. However, students who are successful in the only course, do not pay the tuition fee of the following semester.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: After the final/make-up exam of a course, the student will take the course grade taking into account 40% of letter grade of the midterm exam/exams and 60 % of letter grade of the final/make-up exams. To be successful in the course, students have to take at least CC. Different letter grade must not be given to students who have the same points. The letter grade given to a student can not be lower than the letter grade of students with low scores.

Employment Opportunities: The students, who participate the graduate studies, continue to work in various engineering fields. Chemical engineers work in many sectors such as petrochemical, automotive, food, cement, ceramics, textiles, pharmaceutical, paint, glass, fertilizers, metal, coating, defense industry in our country. Chemical engineers are served in the fields such as R & D, process design and optimization, factory organization and business, management and quality control.
