Course Objectives This course considers the chemical processing of petroleum into useful and profitable products. This is, of course, not as scientifically and quantitatively formulated as the unit operations, but classification and composition of petroleum, its properties, general principles in petroleum refining and refining types, petroleum products and properties, physical and chemical operations in petroleum refining such as reforming, hydro-treating, vis-breaking and lubricating oil production will be emphasized in this course. To be able to describe some of the organic process in the Chemical Industries and to provide the necessary training for the students to have the ability to recognize, in part, the industrial environment.
