Course Objectives This course aims to provide the student with an overview, and the theoretical background and design techniques related to power electronics circuits and systems including DC/DC and DC/AC converters, laboratory assisted presentation of PWM control method applications on inverter control, informations on resonant converters and student is provided with practical application concerns on power electronic circuits.

D.Ö.Ç. 1 determine types, control methods, where and how to use DC-DC converters, design and analyze different DC chopper circuits. 4
D.Ö.Ç. 2 draw circuit schematic and output waveforms of multi quadrant choppers, analyze multi quadrant operation of DC motors with H-bridge DC choppers. 3
D.Ö.Ç. 3 analyze and design isolated converters used in switch mode power supplies. 4
D.Ö.Ç. 4 determine types, control methods, where and how to use DC-AC converters (inverters). 2
D.Ö.Ç. 5 design, simulate and practically implement square, sine and harmonic eliminated PWM signal generation circuits. 4
D.Ö.Ç. 6 analyze and design single-phase and three-phase square wave and PWM inverters. 3
D.Ö.Ç. 7 recommend what to do to improve voltage waveform on the inverter output-load side to sine form. 2
