Purpose: The undergraduate program of the Department of International Relations (DoIR) is based on the basic conceptual and theoretical framework of the discipline of international relations and supported by the history, law, economics, and technology knowledge in compliance with the interdisciplinary nature of this discipline. In this context, the objective of the program is to allow students to acquire English knowledge at the level of monitoring international literature as much as national sources, and to enable students to understand and analyze national and international developments occurring in the globalized international system, in the light of history and scientific methods.

Vision: The vision of DoIR is to become a department i) that educate people of the world who may affect the future using information resources effectively in line with the scientific and ethical values, and who are competitive and confident in national and international arena, ii) that is an example in higher education and producing knowledge with the principal of analyzing past and present in scientific perspective and sharing the conclusions drawn with humanity, iii) that follow the developments in the field international relations and prepare students for the post-graduation life with its experienced academic staff, iv) that train labor force sensitive to other peoples problems and having ideas, knowledge, and skills to contribute the improvement of peoples living standards through education, training, research and publications, v) that contribute to the growth and development of our nation through solving the problems faced in scientific research studies, vi) that constantly evolves and collaborate with leading departments in national and international institutions, and vii) that is among the most respected and ambitious academic institutions of Turkey and the world in the age of intense dynamism of Turkeys foreign relations.

Mission: The mission of DoIR is to train individuals who are able to keep up with the rapid changes in the light of the experience gained from the past who are able to keep pace with these changes with confidence who are able to look at the ideas of others without prejudice and to new ideas who are equipped with modern information and culture, communication skills, ability to research, analyze, and overcome problems who are able to lead the environment and who are engaged in research and committed to transfer the findings to society in universal standards.

Program Language: Turkısh, The English Program of International Relations is English (100% English).

Program Description: The undergraduate program in DoIR has been constituted by considering the dynamics of the global system and basic principles of international relations with an interdisciplinary perspective. The program aims to train human resources who are capable of analyzing events, facts, and issues by considering economic, political, and social developments along with diplomatic relations and historical processes. Today, international relations includes not only relations and developments between countries, but also developments between communities, non-governmental organizations, individuals, and transnational actors. DoIR trains students who can analyze this multi-layered network of relations at the global level who have the necessary knowledge and skills about foreign and domestic policy who have conceptual framework and theoretical approaches in international relations who can carry out interdisciplinary research specialized in the field who have analytical thinking who can adapt to the dynamics of the globalization process and who are equipped to increase the competitive and representative power of our nation.

Admissions Requirements: Following conditions are required to enroll in the programs in Selçuk University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS): a) to graduate from a high school or a vocational school equivalent to high school, b) to have the right to register to the programs in Selçuk University through central placement or provisions of Selçuk University International Students Admission Directive or to have the valid scores and conditions and to be successful at the special talent exam c) to submit the registration documents specified in OSYM guide, d) for those who are entitled to enroll an undergraduate program, not to have been registered to another formal or distance education program or distance learning degree program with quota restrictions, e) for those who are entitled to enroll associate degree program, not to have been registered to another formal or or distance education associate degree program or distance learning degree program with quota restrictions. The original or a copy of the required documents certified by the university will be accepted. Action shall be taken based on the candidates declaration of military situation and criminal record. Candidates who are entitled to enroll the university must apply in person to register. However, candidates who are unable to apply in person due to excuses can register via proxies having notarized proxy statement or legal representatives.

Recognition of Prior Learning: Before registering to a program in FEAS, students can be exempted from the courses that they have previously taken and succeeded in a higher education undergraduate or associate degree program based on the decision of Faculty Board. In addition, an exemption exam is held for English course at the ning of each academic year. Students have the right to take the exams. Students, who take the exam and obtained the adequate scores, will be exempted from the course at issue.

Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate from the program in which a student is registered, it is necessary to have taken and passed the courses in that program with a total of 240 ECTS, along with the other requirements including the applications, internships, and similar studies. Students must also have a GPA of at least 2.00.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: The success of a student in a course is determined by the letter grade computed by summing up the 40% of the mid-term exam(s) and 60% of the final/make-up exam. In order to be successful in a course, the letter grade of the student must be one of the following: AA, BA, BB, CB, CC. If a student receives a letter grade of DD or DC, GPA of the student must be at least 2.00 in the corresponding semester otherwise the student must repeat these courses. The evaluation of the DD and DC letter grades is done after the make-up exams. The letter grades and coefficients are as follows: (score letter Grade coefficient) 90-100 AA 4.00 85-89 BA 3.50 75-84 BB 3.00 70-74 CB 2.50 60-69 CC 2.00 55-59 DC 1.50 50-54 DD 1.00 40-49 FD 0.50 0-39 FF 0.00. The instructor is able to decrease the score intervals of the given letter grades. Students with the same scores cannot be given different letter grades. A letter grade given to a student cannot be lower than the letter grade of students whose grade is lower than him/her.

Employment Opportunities: The graduates of DoIR have the opportunity to work in both private and public sector. Our graduates can work at the ministries (e.g., Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Customs and Trade, Ministry of Culture and Tourism), a variety of mass communication institutions and banks, State institutions such as Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade. They can also take administrative positions in public and private sector organizations, political parties, civil society organizations, public opinion research companies, media and international organizations including United Nations and European Union.

Jump to Top Degree Programs: The graduates of DoPA undergraduate program are able to attend a graduate program in Public Administration or other related fields on condition that they have a valid and adequate score of ALES exam and proficiency in a foreign language.
