Purpose: The main objective in the establishment of Faculty of Fine Arts, Industrial Design is to provide training for well-equipped Industrial Designers who are going to meet original design needs that Turkish industrialist face, along with the cooperation of art environment of Faculty of Fine Arts and scientific, technologic environments of the university.

Vision: Students are expected to receive a wide range of training including such issues as user researches, design methods, development of innovative ideas, prototyping, computer modelling. Providing training for industrial designers, who have the ability to use design information and technology properly, leading quality, and maturation in design ss and are creative, entrepreneur, to new products and tems pursuing professional, ethical and environmental susceptibility of all the values in production, marketing and usage processes is the objective.

Mission: Vision: Design for the product has established its presence in the last 10 years and grown into a popular discipline. Staff requirement in that field has been on the agenda not only of industry but also other basic fields like engineering and art. In order to purvey industrial designation to be used effectively in development of the country and improving the quality of life creating an active promotion for related parts of society, an informing strategy, and working through these strategies are among the objectives of this program.

Program Description: Department of Industrial Design which was founded within Faculty of Fine Arts in 2008 has started to accept students in 2013. Department consists of experienced academic staff in sector who received various awards and made significant international success in their fields. This is one of the most competent programmes with regard to technological and physical infrastructure.

Admissions Requirements: Students are accepted according to the results of Central Placement System which is organised by OSYM.

Recognition of Prior Learning: Students who participate in the program through lateral or vertical transfers can be absolved from previous classes they have succeeded before by the decision of board of management.

Graduation Requirements: Students who successfully complete internship programs and receive 240 ECTS credits are qualified for graduation.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: Students are subjected to semester exams for each lesson (mid-term exam, project, seminar, quiz, assignment etc.) and final exams at the end of the year. Semester exams constitute 40% and finals form 60%. All exams are assessed out of 100 points. In order for students to be successful in project classes which are main art branches of final exams, they have to get CB, and CC from subsidiary art branches as well as at least DC-DD from culture-common mandatory classes averages of which are 2.00. And if averages are below 2.00, they will be considered failed.

Employment Opportunities: Industrial design companies, Design Departments and product manufacturers, Entrepreneurs willing to manufacture their own products. Besides Design expert, Strategic design expert, usability experts, interaction designers, interface designers, corporate identity designers, model maker, special effects film makers, design managers, design researchers, computer experts, game designers, new product development experts.
