Purpose: The purpose of Occupational Health and Safety Program is to educate "Occupational Health and Safety Technicians" needed for industrial organizations and who possesses the knowledge, skills and ability to take responsibility for the occupational safety of a whole company. The program trains individuals who follow and review related legal occupational health and safety regulations, behave according to the rules of professional ethics, take all necessary measures for ensuring occupational safety in an organization, including conducting risk assessments, ,establishing plans for improving organizational health and safety, and performing implementation evaluations. Program graduates are eligible to sit for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security "Occupational Safety Specialist" examination. Students who pass the exam will receive a "C Certificate".

Vision: To make Occupational Health and Safety education gain new perspectives and raise graduates making them to enable a safe and healthy work environment at work when they graduate and work in businesses and raise graduates who can enable the sources to be used effectively, the work conditions having the maximum safety and minimum risk with a high gain in service and production in terms of employees to be accepted and contribute the national economy by removing the risks affecting the employers, employees and work environment negatively or minimizing the damages.

Mission: To raise graduates who are respectful to work ethic values and know all the responsibilities of the sector and protect the employees by educating the them about possible work accidents and occupational diseases and to increase competencies about occupational health and safety by adding values as well as science and technology and enable this effect to continue.

Program Description: Because of the increase of the employees in parallel with the development of industrial production, it becomes essential to make studies about Occupational Health and Safety. The education of Occupational Health and Safety exists at the top of the steps increasing occupational health in order to a healthy and sustainable labor force as a country, increase life standards of employees and effectiveness of our businesses and develop the quality of our product. Our programme will provide intermediate staff who enable preventing from work accidents by raising awareness of personnel about work and occupational diseases and the programme will enable reducing the health risks at work and creating a healthy and safety environment. In our department, education is given in two different ways as Day Course and Night Course. Occupational Health and Safety Programme that is a two-year programme consists of 4 semesters. What is more, there are two semesters of thirty-day industry-based education (IBE).

Admissions Requirements: Candidates must have high school or equivalent school diploma and have obtained sufficient score from the transition to higher education exam.

Recognition of Prior Learning: The students giving education in the Occupational Health and Safety Programme can exempt from some courses in the framework of particular regulations. They can exempt when the content and credit of the course received in another institution are appropriate for the content and credit of the course given in this programme and when this is approved by Higher School Management.

Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate from the higher school department of Property Protection and Safety, it is needed that the students should be successful in all the compulsory and elective courses (total 120 ECTS) which they should take and complete 30 work days of their compulsory internship (Industry-based Education- IBE) at the end of each year. Students are given education for 2 years (4 semesters) in this programme.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: In order for each student to register for the courses and take the exam at the end of the semester, they should attend 70% of the courses and 80% of the applications at least. Students have a midterm at least and a final exam for each course at the end of the semester. The contribution of the midterms is 40% (as midterms, the grades obtained from homework, laboratory exam or quizzes can be evaluated) and the contribution of the final is 60%. All the exams are evaluated on the scale of 100 points. If a student gets AA, BA, CB or CC letter grades, he is accepted as successful. DC and DD grades are conditional pass grades. In order for a student who gets DC or DD to be accepted as successful, his general weighted average grade should be 2.00 at least.

Employment Opportunities: Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 provides important job opportunities to the graduates of the program. Today, the importance given to employee health and creating a safe working environment accelerated the developments in the field of occupational health and safety. Therefore, the need for human resources for occupational health and safety has increased in all sectors. With the latest legislative amendments, if occupational health and safety technicians are successful in the examination after certificate training? they are ed. With this aspect, the program is of great importance in educating the future staff of the future. Therefore, the students who have graduated from occupational health and safety program expect a large study area. Upon successful completion of this program, our students will have the opportunity to be employed in all enterprises related to occupational health and safety, factories, other production areas, public institutions and organizations, municipalities, banks and hotels in briefly, human and employment.

Jump to Top Degree Programs: Students who graduate from the program have the right to pass to Anadolu University, Open Education Faculty 3rd year without examination. In addition, with the Vertical Transfer Exam, they can attend the Emergency and Disaster Management, Business Administration, Health Management and Social Services departments of the faculties.
