Purpose: The purpose of the `master degree with thesis is to provide the student with skills as follows: accessing information through scientific research, evaluate the information and produce scientific information. Also, another purpose is that to train engineers who are specialized in electrical & electronics engineering and qualified enough to be preferred by the national & international industrial companies.

Vision: To train engineers who have advanced knowledge in electrical & electronics engineering field and are able to design & implement solutions on national and international level.

Mission: To train and donate engineers with MSc degree who are able to implement Electrical & Electronics Engineering technologies and are able to present best and most innovative & economic solutions after required research and development.

Program Description: Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department of Engineering Faculty in Selçuk University was founded in 1987 and started education in 1987 with 40 undergraduate students. The departments evening education section was ed in 2010. The BS program takes 4 years to be completed. The departments normal education section accepts 75 students and evening education section accepts 75 students. Besides undergraduate students, about 20 graduate students are accepted each year. Our department started to accept students for the evening educations master without thesis section in 2005. The following engineering areas are studied in our department: Electronics, Circuits and Systems, Telecommunication, Electrical Machines, Electrical Installations, Electromagnetic Areas and Microwave Technique and Control Systems. There are 3 full professors, 6 associate professors, 7 assistant professors, 1 instructor with a PhD, 25 research assistants (2 of them have PhDs), 1 technician and 1 secretary in our department. Our department has graduates such as academics who serve in Turkey or abroad, engineers who work in related fields at public sector or private sector, entrepreneurs who start their own business like consultancy or contractor firms. Our alumni generally work in the following areas: Electronics industry, Industrial automation and control systems, Design of analog and digital communication systems, Medical electronics, Power generation, transmission and distribution sector, consultancy and management in factories. Electrical & Electronics Engineering makes our everyday life easier and promotes our quality of life. Therefore, the need for Electrical & Electronics Engineers in our country which is growing really fast will be always present.

Admissions Requirements: In order to be accepted by MS program with Thesis: a) to have a BS degree and apply the institute in required time b) to have an ALES point which is greater than 55 c) the senate of the university decides the weights of ALES, cumulative grade point average and written examination d) the Senate may change these weights and may put additional requirements e) written examination is observed by 5 jury members.

Recognition of Prior Learning: The department council makes decision according to the Electrical & Electronics Engineering syllabus and evaluates prior learning. The department council accepts students if they meet SELÇUK ÜNİVERSİTESİ LİSANSÜSTÜ EĞİTİM VE ÖĞRETİM YÖNETMELİĞİ regulations.

Graduation Requirements: a) The graduate students should write their thesis according to regulations determined by the institute and they have to defend their thesis in front of a jury. Master thesis and seminary can be written in another language b) The jury is determined by the institute council with the advice of the advisor. The jury consists of the following members: advisor of the student, 1 of them is from the same department and another is from another department or university. If there is a co-advisor, he/she cannot be a jury member c) The student presents his thesis in 30 days after he submits his thesis in written form to the jury members. The presentation is publicly and should take between 45-90 minutes ç) After the presentation is done, the jury decides to accept or reject the thesis. The decision will be delivered to the institute in the following 3 days. If a students thesis is decided to be revised, it must be revised and must be presented in 3 months in front of the same jury. If the thesis is rejected by the jury, the studentship is suspended d) If the thesis is related to art, after the acceptance of the thesis the student will be examined practically by the same jury in the following 5 days. The jury will decide about the result of the practice exam e) If the student cannot make the present in the determined day and if he has an excuse he will be given another presentation chance. f) The diploma of the thesis will be given to the student if the student successfully completes the thesis exam and meet other requirements g) On the Masters degree diploma, the students departments name is written.

Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: (1) A graduate class credit is determined by the number of theoretical weekly lecture hours & number of lab hours. Likewise, ECTS credit is determined. (2) The student must attend 70% of theoretical lectures and 80% of lab lectures in order to be eligible for midterm and final exams. (3) There must be at least one final exam for the graduate courses. If needed, there can be more midterms, projects, quizzes, lab and clinical studies. The professor of the lecture decides the percentages of these implementations. The professor gives the course grades according to the following table: 90-100 AA 4.0 85-89 BA 3.5 75-84 BB 3.0 70-74 CB 2.5 60-69 CC 2.0 55-59 DC 1.5 50-54 DD 1.0 40-49 FD 0.5 0-39 FF 0.0 - F 0.0 F: Failed. (4) An MS student must take CB and a PhD student must take BB at least. (5) In order to graduate from MS, CGPA must be at least 2.5/4.0 and from PhD it must be at least 3.0/4.0. In order to take better grades, students may take the courses again within time. Thus, the last taken grade will be on the tran. (6) For the integrated PhD program, if GPA is less than 1.5/4.0 in the first semester and less than 2.0/4.0 for other semester, the student will be moved to Masters program. (7) Students who are not eligible for the midterm or final exams because of not meeting the courses requirements will be given (F) grade. (8) Students who continue their thesis successfully will be given (G) grade while others will be given (K) grade. G and K grades also are used to define other noncredit courses, specialization course and seminary. (9) (M) grade will be given to the exempted courses which are taken from other programs or universities. The previous letter grade will be used. (10) If a student fails a compulsory course, he can take it in the next semester. If that course is not given in the next semester, the student may take another course with the permission of the advisor and the institute. If a student fails an elective course, then he may take another course instead of this course with the permission of the advisor. (11) The advisors may 8-hour a week specialization courses which is determined by the institute. The students must register and achieve this course.
